Plastiglomerates, 2017
found stones, rocks, pieces of plastic
approx 15 x 10 cm each
Plastiglomerates are reproductions of naturally occurring type of identically named rocks, first discovered in Hawaii in 2012. Beside other substances, they contain pieces of wood, shells, sand and most importantly plastic. Plastic, a human invention, becomes part of a natural structure, changing its form and shape independently of any further human intervention.Plastiglomerates are objects in which natural and artificial elements coexist, hoping to contribute to discourse on the ceaselessly increasing human impact on the environment.
