Part of an ongoing project, Magnolias is an immersive multi-media installation introducing my research into the the symbolisms, resonances, and reciprocal appropriations within the rhetorics of white supremacist and environmental groups. In the video, excerpts of some fundamental texts from these groups are juxtaposed to create a new narrative of uncertain source. Unnerving laser projection flashes through white- painted and scented magnolia tree branches. A QR code, obscuring the pistils of a Southern Magnolia flower, links to a dictionary definition of its name, which is a secluded symbol of the League of the South - a white separatist organisation.
