Evolve is a digitally constructed collage, examining the contrasting relationship between the past and the present notions of natural landscape. The collage makes use of traditional landscape paintings, e.g. 17th century Dutch landscapes, and 19th century idylic paintings by John Constable, juxtaposing them with a current, ‘real’ picture of nature. The disasters depicted come from accidents such as oil spills in Santa Barbara in 2010, Toledo in 2015 and areas of shale gas fracking and tar sand reserves.
